Musical Guilty Pleasures

What are artists/songs/videos you like that you probably shouldn’t?

I really like solo Sting (up until the mid 90s) and Peter Gabriel

Gabriel is fine. Collins is the one you want to keep quiet about.

Yes, you should keep quiet and feel guilty about liking musical geniuses that transcended generations so the cool metal and rap kids don’t mock you.

Phil Collins is objectively better than 90% of all rap and metal.

“In Your Eyes” is a truly glorious song.

There are cool metal and rap kids?

Okay, cool honky-tonk kids, then.

Yeah, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, even Sting, aren’t guilty pleasures. This thread is much more for revelations like how yesterday, day six of me having Santana’s “Smooth” stuck in my head, I threw it on the stereo in my BMW and was amazed, transfixed at the clarity of the sound engineering and the separation of the mix. The shakers and some of the other percussion tracks were coming out of the lower right side in a way that had me momentarily convinced that there was gravel striking the undercarriage.

:horgh2: That’s how you do it

I dunno if this is a Guilty Pleasure or not as I always thought Betty Boo was legit great pop music. Went to see her last year. Still in love.

Uh, yeah, and they formed a band called Limp Bizkit.

I’ve listened to Chromeo’s album White Women at least 100 times.

I will admit that occasionally, when I’m really faced, I might end up rocking the fuck out to some Celine Dion.

Same, minus the “faced” part.

Same but Sweet Surrender CD single on repeat.

Also a huge fan of quirky made-for-80s-movie-montage tracks. To wit:
